Among Glasgow residents, 1.85% of respondents drove to work, while 4.8% of respondents in Edinburgh drove to work. A total of 9.1% of men and 15.6% of women had a prescription for anxiolytics and antidepressants, and the proportion who cycled to work among them was 7.5% and 10.2%, compared to 9.2% and 15.7% for those who preferred other transportation options, respectively.
Researchers determined that the average likelihood of receiving a prescription for antidepressants and/or anxiolytics in the five-year period following the census decreased by 15.1% for cyclists compared to those who preferred other modes of transportation.
