Hideo Kojima’s “Death Stranding” video game is being adapted by A24

A24 Studios and game designer Hideo Kojima (Kojima Productions) officially announced the co-production of the film adaptation of the cult video game “Death Stranding”, which will see the light of day in 2019. Information about this appeared on the website of the movie company.

Film company A24 has started to make its wishes come true – a couple of months ago it became known that the studio, known primarily for its auteur films, is going to drastically change its business strategy and cut back on art house movies, focusing on films based on big franchises.

“It’s official: we’re partnering with Kojima Productions on a film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game Death Stranding,” the announcement appeared on A24’s website
A T-shirt confirming the collaboration between the game designer and the filmmakers also appeared on A24’s online store. Shortly before that, fans of the game found the distinctive logo on Kojima’s studio’s website.

Kojima himself will also contribute significantly to the movie. He confirmed that he will be “deeply involved in the production, supervision, story development, look, design and content” of the movie. Such involvement is a promising sign for fans hoping for a credible and impressive translation of the game to the big screen.
