Switzerland holds referendum on reducing carbon emissions

British TV channel BBC reports that almost 60% of Swiss residents in a referendum supported the bill of the country’s authorities, which is aimed at reducing the use of fossil fuels, as well as achieving carbon neutrality by the state by mid-century. It is noted that the legislative initiative of the Swiss authorities is also aimed at protecting Alpine glaciers from rapid melting.

According to the newspaper, the turnout at the referendum was 42% of the population, and 59.1% of the Swiss people supported the bill to reduce CO2 emissions.
