Switzerland holds referendum on reducing carbon emissions

The initiative envisages a gradual process of phasing out oil and gas imports in favor of Switzerland’s use of “green” energy with the expectation of a complete transition to zero emissions by 2050.

In addition, the BBC also pointed out that the law was supported by the country’s key parties. The only exception was the Swiss People’s Party, which initiated the referendum.
